It's October! Month #2 in our series on the 5-fold graces. So, grab your Pumpkin Spice Latte, and come on a journey of exploring the Evangelistic Grace here on the blog and on The Live Worthy podcast.
Some of you may see the word Evangelistic and feel fear or turn off. If that’s you, I’m glad you’re here—this month is especially for you! Keep an open mind; you do carry evangelistic grace, though it may look different from the “typical” evangelist.
There’s often more shame around this grace than others. As Christians, aren’t we “supposed” to be good at it? Jesus did tell us to share the good news, yet it often feels scary or awkward. I get it! Stick with us—we want to equip you. And it probably won’t look like knocking on doors or handing out tracts.
I pray the Lord shows you how you’re already reaching the lost and reveals the unique way He created you to gather His flock.
Evangelist: Comes from two words. Euangelion: Good News, ‘Gospel’ (75
occurrences), Euangelizō: Bring, Announce Good News, Declare the Gospel (55 occurrences).
There are 3 Defining Marks of Evangelistic Grace:
Urgency and Contagious Passion for the Lost being Found:
“He said to them, Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news
(the Gospel) to every creature [the whole human race].” Mk. 16:15 AMP

A Burning Heart for the Least, the Lost, the Last, the Lonely, and the Lepers of Society
(You go into dark places as light!):
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news
to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19
Deep Desire to GO, PLANT a Needed Seed, and then GO to the Next Field...
“Keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist,
discharge all the duties of your ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:5
Indicators that you are strong in Evangelistic grace:
You live with a missionary mindset, aligning time, money, and even where you live to reach those you’re called to.
You love meeting people, hearing their stories, and engaging naturally with genuine interest.
You connect people’s stories to your own and to the Gospel, showing where God is at work.
You see every conversation as a chance for hope, freedom, and life, and look for God to open doors.
You have deep compassion for the overlooked and intentionally show them God’s love.
You love your community, actively build relationships, and know your neighbors and local workers.
You naturally talk about Jesus, sharing testimonies of what He’s done in your life.
You’ve personally led others to faith in Jesus.
Why do we need it in the Church, our churches, and our ministries?
• Evangelistic Grace anchors us in HOPE as we adopt a lifestyle that GATHERS hearts to
Jesus and watches God IGNITE their faith!
• Continuously points us to the Gospel (good news)!
• Keeps us looking outside the church walls for the lost and the leper and reminds us of
Jesus’ heart for them!

What happens where we lack it in our churches and ministries?
• We become a “club.” Our focus turns internal to the desires and comforts of Christians and away from the Great Commission.
• We become a “cult.” We add ‘requirements of what is needed beyond the Simple Gospel that is neither ‘simple’ nor ‘gospel,’ & become a barricade to the very people He died to save!
Pride
Highly evangelistic people may see sharing faith as the whole gospel, minimizing other pursuits or looking down on others as “less sold out.” Pride always precedes a fall—don’t let it be yours.
Treating People Like a Project
Love, not agenda, must drive us. Otherwise, people feel used, like recruits for a scheme. Ask Jesus to help you see them as He does, following His lead instead of manipulating results. Trust the Father to draw hearts as you love and obey.
Living Like You’re a Project
Your worth was secured at the Cross, not by what you do for God. He desires you to go with Him, not strive for Him. From sitting at His feet as His beloved flows the best posture to carry good news.
Impatience and Offense with Fellow Believers
Different graces emphasize safety (shepherding), depth (teaching), health (apostolic), worship and justice (prophetic). You may burn for souls, but don’t assume others don’t care. Instead, let your fire encourage them past fear and distraction. And remember: you also need their grace to be complete.
Are you strong in the five-fold Evangelistic Grace?
What from the above makes you think "oh, that's me!"?
