Meet Lisa Ward, Worthy's Visual Communications Director

As part of our "Meet the Executive Team" blog series, I’m excited to introduce you to my friend, Lisa Ward. When I think of Lisa, the word that comes to mind is beauty. She brings it into every space—whether through her incredible talent for decorating, curating, painting, or simply brightening a room with her smile.

Lisa and I attend the same church, and any time there’s a beautiful display, my oldest daughter will say, “I bet Lisa Ward did that”—and more often than not, she’s right. God has given Lisa a unique and creative vision for His Kingdom, and I can’t wait for you to get to know her better.

~Niki Hathorn, Worthy Content Coordinator

What is your name and where do you serve on the Worthy team?

Lisa Ward, I am the Visual Communications Director for Worthy

What do you do in that role and what is your favorite part of it?

I hold the vision of the overall aesthetic for Worthy Conference, our Social Media Content, graphics we share, and any other other visual communication avenues. I love the challenge of finding ways to cohesively present all aspects of Worthy Ministries in a visually beautiful way that invites others to "see" what we are all about. My absolute favorite part is decorating for events such as our Legacy Family "Boots, Bling & BBQ" event, which I hope to see you at next year!

What is your home church?

I attend Overflow Church in Valrico & have been with Worthy since the first conference was held there 3 years ago.

To you, what is the most mind-blowing part of the Gospel?

God is so into details. I notice details and, aside from the mind-blowing truth of salvation, itself, I am constantly blown away by the details God reveals to us in His Word... the way He has woven this amazing story, a tapestry of His-tory of the World, since the beginning of creation, for us to hold in our hands and read today. AND it all points to Jesus!

Who is your favorite woman in the Bible and why?

I have a few favorites, but I think I’ll go with Esther. The things that were very difficult early on in her life positioned her to make a really big Kingdom impact, literally. Her calling was clear but dangerous, yet she submitted to what was being asked of her & boldly obeyed.

What is your favorite spiritual discipline and how do you practice it?

I am currently reading through the Bible in a year with The Bible Recap and that has been so good for me to stay in the Word daily. I typically struggle with being disciplined, so the fact that I'm half way through reading the Bible chronologically is impressive (to me!) A spiritual rhythm that comes more easily to me is finding ways to be thankful and praise God daily. I am artistic and notice beauty around me whether its a lovely flower, my husband and 6 darling children, an epic sunset, the ocean washing up on the shore...so being observant of His creation naturally leads my heart into praise and thanksgiving for the beauty I see.

What is one way that you typically hear from the Lord?

I have heard God's voice in my heart so clearly and almost audibly that it has literally stopped me in my tracks a handful of times in my life. More often, I can sense what He is impressing on my heart and recognize that He's speaking to me. I like to tell Him that I heard Him, ask follow up questions for clarification, and obey. I have on occasion had a thought or said something out loud that has caught me off guard & immediately thought - "Did I really just say/think that?!" When God speaks to me THAT way, it's usually been a life altering revelation that takes me in a new direction.

What has "Living Worthy" looked like to you since last summer's Worthy conference?

One thing that really made an impression on me last year was right near the end when conference speaker, Pastor Chuck Ammons shared about the distinction between Intensity for Jesus and Intimacy with Jesus. I wrote in my notes that "Intensity will never lead to Intimacy, but Intimacy will always overspill into Intensity." The part about intensity leading to burnout resonated with me. So, since then, I've been focusing on growing in intimacy with Jesus, and that has led to so many opportunities to daily "live worthy."

Finish this sentence: "These days, I couldn't live without: ___________! (besides Jesus)"

It's not the most holy answer, but coffee was the first thing that came to mind. Remember the part above where I said I have 6 kids? But truly, I would have to say I couldn't live without COMMUNITY! My church community is such a source of encouragement, support, love, joy, fun...it really looks like Jesus to me!
